The figures on the ridge are my parents and their dog, walking to the summit of Mt. Frosty in Manning Park, BC. Terri and I enjoyed the full colours of the Larch trees in the meadow below, watching my parents slowly make their way along the rocky alpine trail.
I like the almost surreal scale of this photograph, how the mountain reduces human beings to specks in the landscape. I like the flow of the picture too, how my attention is attracted to the top of the ridge first, then filters slowly down through the rocks to the orange trees and sunlit rocks below.
This photo reminds me of the tough feel of alpine areas, where the air never quite loses its chill and the wind always carries a faint tang of rock dust and lichen.
