Until it was closed for structural problems, this old blues bar was a musical landmark, a gathering place for musicians and fans from around the continent. Surrounded by progress, it is slated for destruction; the old building now stands abandoned, its rich history gelling and evaporating under the dry prairie sky.
This chipped and thickly papered wall looked feeble and worn. I liked the light play over the snags of paper and the strangely-coloured brick. Inverted, the photograph becomes slightly surreal, sunlight streaming impossibly over the texture from below like a harsh floodlight onto a grimy stage.
