Reeds, Water: Near Squamish, BC, Canada (2002) - Abstract nature photograph of reeds and their reflections forming rings in pure blue water

I liked the simple, abstract shapes these reeds made with their reflections. The interlocking rings made the group seem very whole and self-contained. The wash of reflected sky in the background took away any sense of scale from the scene and left me with a feeling of fragility and timelessness. The reeds looked like shapes from a dream.

I photographed the reeds in a way that respected their space and made them seem very separate from the rest of the world, changing in time, their shapes mimicking drops of water from the lake that gave them life.
