Mist, Trees, Glacier

Mist, Trees, Glacier: Joffre Lakes, BC, Canada (2005) - Fine art photograph of mist gathering below a forest and a fractured glacier

Terri and I were snowshoeing on this mountain trail in fresh, cold snow. When we came into this basin and out onto the frozen lake, we stopped and enjoyed the silence of the snow-muted afternoon. Filtered mid-winter light fell on the trees, softly yellowing their tops. Mist moved silently around the lake edges, sweeping along the base of the forest like a ghost.

I photographed the scene like I saw it, the snow-laden trees and mist stacked against the gigantic folds of the glacier above, all things silent and frozen in the cool winter light.
