Tide Pool, Jagged Rocks: Near Tofino, BC, Canada (2011) - Fine art photograph of sharp black rocks scattered around a colourful tide pool

From the right angle, it looked as though a bomb had gone off in these rocks, sending shards of granite like missiles into the sea. In a way, the ceaseless water was like a slower weapon: wearing, freezing, cracking, carrying small rocks in its great surf and smashing them on the cliffs. Great monoliths, now shattered, standing dead.

It was raining and dull, and the rocks were slippery underfoot. I could feel a weight around me like thick air, and while I was making photographs, I somehow didn't feel comfortable turning my back on the ocean.
